There’s lots to do at the zoo

There's plenty to see and do at the three Victorian zoos this long weekend, including Teddy Vet Checks. 159996_01

No plans for the long weekend? How about making a visit to one of Victoria’s three great zoos?
There’ll be no Bulldogs on view, but Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo visitors will get to see the African Wild Dogs and at Healesville Sanctuary visitors will see the Dingoes!
The Friday public holiday will give Victorians an extra day to enjoy these iconic experiences, and it’s a bonus that children under 16 will enter free of charge, as they do on all public holidays and weekends and during school holidays.
The Teddy Vet Check school holiday program continues through to Sunday, encouraging the nurturing instincts children naturally feel towards their Teddies. The program hopes to inspire children to extend that empathy towards living animals, from pets to wildlife, seeking to develop an interest in wildlife conservation.
Children can bring their beloved teddies along and take part in the Teddy Vet Checks between 11am and 3pm at Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary, and Werribee Open Range Zoo. They will be given Teddy Vet Check certificates to take home as a reward for showing their care and compassion.
MELBOURNE ZOO TO SCREEN THE GRAND FINAL
On Saturday Zoo visitors will be able to drop into the Leopard Lodge function centre to watch some or all of the Grand Final on the big screen specially set up for the event.
The Zoo Bakery will be busy producing their award-winning version of the traditional footy favourite – hot pies – which will be on sale, along with a selection of drinks.
WESTERN CELEBRATIONS AT WERRIBEE OPEN RANGE ZOO
The Zoo Bakery pies will also be available at the Werribee Zoo kiosk for fans enjoying a family day out to enjoy the most exciting day of the footy season.
With such a high concentration of Bulldogs fans in the neighbourhood, staff at Werribee Open Range Zoo are expecting to see a flurry of Footscray scarves all weekend!
AWESOME AUSSIE BARBIE AT HEALESVILLE SANCTUARY
Sanctuary visitors on Saturday will be able to celebrate the Grand Final with another culinary classic: a barbecue at the historic Robert Eadie Pavilion. Healesville Harvest salads, K&B meats, and a selection of drinks will be available to purchase from noon until sold out.
