Kingswim dives into Clyde North

Kingswim will open its new centre at Clyde North in January.

Kingswim Business and Strategy Manager Craig Dowsing says the team is excited to provide local kids with the necessary skills to survive and thrive in the water.

“The City of Casey has been one of Victoria’s fastest growing areas since the 1980s and the population is set to rise another 200,000 to 500,000 over the next 25 years,” he said.

“Despite such a large population and demand for services, local parents are still having to drive considerable distances to access swimming lessons and of the centres available, may face limited options.”

The new Kingswim centre at Clyde North will provide 200 scheduled swimming classes each week, potentially providing those hundreds of children with a vital life skill.

Once complete, the new facility will include a purpose built, state-of-the art 20m x 6 lane learn to swim indoor pool. The pool will be heated to 32 degrees to ensure little ones can enjoy their swimming all year around.

Mr Dowsing said the need to learn to swim had never been greater.

“A recent national survey commissioned by Kingswim revealed 51 per cent of Australian adults can’t swim 50 metres or more without stopping,” he explained.

However, the survey also revealed younger demographics had a much higher swimming ability, which correlated to the swimming lessons they received as children.

Close to half of 18-24-year-olds said they had swimming lessons through three or more channels (at home/at a swim school/at primary school), with 84% believing they received adequate swimming lessons as a child.

This demonstrates how crucial it is for children to receive professional swimming lessons in addition to anything taught at home.

“It’s our mission to ensure every child has access to swimming lessons and the chance to develop the confidence and ability to stay safe in the water and we can’t wait to provide kids in the Casey Cardinia area that chance,” Mr Dowsing said.

Kingswim Clyde North will be located within the Ramlegh Springs on Clyde Estate on Tuckers Road, Clyde North.

Registrations are now open, with places expected to fill quickly.

Local parents are encouraged to visit kingswim.com.au/clyde-north or call 5945 3265 to enrol their child.
