New Running Festival for Puffing Billy

Puffing Billy has launched an exciting new family friendly festival comprising of four different run options that will cater for both experienced runners and families alike.

Puffing Billy Events Manager, Matt Collopy, said the new courses provide a great opportunity to involve the entire community.

“We often hear stories about children and families wanting to run against the train, however this previously hasn’t been possible due to the challenging nature of the course. The Puffing Billy Running Festival opens the event up to everyone, from elite runners to those looking to keep active and who run for fun,” Matt said.

The Puffing Billy Running Festival will take place on Sunday 3rd May. Experienced runners can choose to test themselves on the challenging 25km and 10km runs. Families with young children will be able to choose either the 5km or 2km run. The 5km option starts and finishes at Gembrook Station and is suited for families with some running experience. The 2km run is an easier course from Gembrook Recreation Reserve to Gembrook Station.

“Those looking to cheer on participants along the way can enjoy a ride on Puffing Billy and possibly even beat them to it!”, said Matt.

Registrations are now open, with early bird rates available until Monday 9 March 2020. The festival takes place on Sunday, 3rd May.
