Casey’s customer service centres have been closed and many events have been cancelled or postponed due to coronavirus.

The federal government has banned non-essential gatherings of 100 people or more indoors and over 500 people in outdoor spaces in a bid to halt the spread of the virus.

As a result, a number of upcoming events – including the Casey Cup and Casey Kids Carnival – have been cancelled. Others have been postponed to later in the year.

The City of Casey has also closed its customer service centres at Bunjil Place and Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre until further notice.

City of Casey interim Administrator Noelene Duff said the measures were about looking after the entire community, including those most vulnerable to the virus, and protecting employees.

“I want to stress to the community that the City of Casey is still operating. You will continue to see our Officers continuing to deliver services in our communities,” Ms Duff said.

Citizenship ceremonies have been suspended, while Anzac Day services have been called off. The Cranbourne Dawn Service and march, Bunjil Place Dawn Service, Berwick march and Hampton Park service won’t go ahead.

Bunjil Place, including the library, has been closed. This means a number of planned performances have been postponed or cancelled, with ticket holders being contacted for refunds.
