Puffing Billy starts virtual tours

You can now experience the famous Puffing Billy from the comfort of your lounge room.

Puffing Billy is offering virtual tours while it is temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The heritage railway is sharing behind-the-scenes virtual tours on its Facebook page.

In the tours, you can visit the locomotive workshop or Menzies Creek Museum, meet a train driver or fireman, experience the flora and fauna of the Dandenong Ranges, or jump on board the diesel-hauled train for a trackwork trip along the line.

The virtual tours are being shared to the Puffing Billy Railway Facebook page each Friday.

The first tour was uploaded on 1 May and features Simon, a volunteer steam train driver who is also a fitter in the locomotive workshop.
