NEXT month, Cardinia residents are encouraged to get their families, friends or colleages together for Cockatoo Bushcare’s Major Day Out.
The free event aims to restore the riparian vegetation along Cockatoo Creek. Attendees can help plant native tube stock along the banks and do some hand weeding while learning about waterway management and what flora and fauna are in the area.
Sandra Edmunds said her family enjoyed last year’ event and encouraged others to take part this year.
“We took part in a Bushcare’s Major Day Out event in Cardinia last year and the girls really enjoyed learning more about the local plants and animals,” she said.
“They had fun pulling out a huge stack of forget-me-nots.”
The event will be held on Sunday 11 September, at Alma Treloar Reserve, Cockatoo, from 10am-noon.
