A mega park is coming to Officer – and you can help shape its design.
Spanning over 10 hectares, Officer District Park will feature some pretty amazing facilities.
There will be a play space featuring parkour, an obstacle course, long slides, ropes, balancing beams and climbing walls.
There will also be a regional-level skate and BMX facility, wheeled adventure trail, fitness zone, picnic facilities, open grasslands and a lookout.
And a cafe is proposed for the site, located on Lansell Avenue.
Pooches are even catered for, with an off-leash dog park planned.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Jeff Springfield says the park will be a popular destination for people of all ages.
“Anyone who is into fitness, fun, loves nature or has a sense of adventure is going to love it, so please hop online and give us your ideas for the design of the park’s main features,” he said.
Construction is due to start in mid-2021.
The park’s master plan, adopted by Council in late-2018, was developed after two rounds of extensive community consultation.
Now, council is seeking community input to inform the designs of the park’s five major elements.
The project is jointly funded by Council and the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
